The Perfect Combination

Another week has come and gone. This was a very good week; one of my best so far. We were able to see a couple miracles and have some great experiences.

The beginning of the week was kind of slow with all the rain. Rain sucks but I'm really counting on the old mission myth that says that your wife gets hotter every time you work in the rain - don't let me down, rain!

On Thursday we had interviews with President Cruz which was cool because I was able to get to know my new mission president on a more personal level. He's a really cool and funny guy but really spiritual at the same time - a great example to me. We finished at about 10:00 (we were the last ones to get interviewed) so pres. offered to drive us home. When we were in the car he asked if we were hungry and of course we said "yes" so he pulled out a couple bananas which we devoured in a matter of seconds. Look, we sat for 8 hours in the chapel waiting to get interviewed - we were starving! We decided to play the "poor missionary" card and said "dang, these bananas will have to hold us over till lunch tomorrow...". You know you've got an awesome mission president when his response is, "is there a good burger joint around here?" and he loads 4 missionaries up on jumbo hot dogs!

Friday we had an awesome lunch with one of our homeboy members. He hooked us up with a churrasco. We headed to the chapel later on to clean the baptismal font and set up chairs when we accidentally set off the church's alarm. Fortunately the cops didn't show up. Afterwards we went to do the baptismal interview and we got surprised with a huge dinner!

Saturday was an awesome but very busy day! We were able to lead a special lady who we recently helped get married into the waters of baptism! It was a very special day as we were able to complete the family and start their journey on to the temple and much bigger blessings. They're a couple that I've been able to get very close to during my time here in the Fernando Osório ward and I was very happy to see this miracle happen. It was cool too because one of the sisters who first started teaching her happens to be in our zone so she was able to participate as well.

I love everything that's happening right now! We've got some really great people to work with. I feel the spirit strongly every day and I'm having a lot of fun - the perfect combination.

The time is flying...

Com amor,

aNoThEr WeEk GoNe By

Olááááááááááá meus amigooooooooooos! Tudo bueno?! Hope all is well back in the sunny state of Florida and wherever else y'all may be! We're partying it up here in the freezing cold and super rainy city of Pelotas!

This week was pretty exciting! On Monday we hit up an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet and I got 4th place with 23 slices down!

Tuesday was District Meeting.

Wednesday-Friday was crazy busy as we were preparing for the wedding and running around everywhere to visit all our homies.

On Saturday we headed out early to the center of Pelotas to participate in the wedding of a couple we've been teaching! Afterwards we had a churrascÃO (endless meat). Saturday night we went to the stake center (which is the 2nd largest chapel in all of Brazil) and we participated in a choir activity. There were choirs from all over the city and all of the missionaries here performed "Joseph Smith's First Prayer" to the tune of "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing". I took a first-person video the whole performance but it's really long so y'all will have to wait a few short months to see it.

Yesterday was crazy in terms of rain. I wish I had had my camera with me. There were literally moments where we were walking in water up to our knees in the streets. When it rains here, it rains.

I'm loving this transfer! The missionaries that I live with are super awesome and we joke around a lot! The time is going by really fast because I'm really enjoying my situation. I hope I can accomplish everything I need to during my time here because it really is flying by.

Until next week!

p.s. CONGRATS ON THE ENGAGEMENT, HAZEL!!!! :D Stoked that I'll be able to be there for your wedding!

TONS of Good Stuff

Hey family and friends! Hope everyone had a great week! Here in Fernando Osório, we're doing great! We've been very busy with...
1. TONS of awesome people to teach and visit
2. TONS of food to get fat on
3. TONS of jokes/pranks
4. TONS of clothes on to keep warm because it's FREEZING
5. TONS of thoughts and prayers for my fan group back home!

This week was mostly spent showing the others around since I'm the only one that stayed in the area. Our house is a blend of cultures: 2 Americans, a Brazilian, and an Argentinan! Everyone is super cool and we joke around a lot! I'm like a year older than everyone on the mission... Actually, I have the most time on the mission than anyone in our entire zone :)

We've been receiving lots of help from the recent converts in our area with references and lessons with members. Everyone is super excited and we're seeing a lot of good things in the area.

This week we'll be having a wedding followed by a baptism the following week. Keep up your prayers for the people we're teaching, especially this amazing couple we're helping with the whole marriage process; it really helps.

Love you guys a ton! Hope all is well back home!

A New Transfer

Friends and family, HAPPY *late FOURTH OF JULY!!! #Merica. Hope y'all had a great week!

This week flew by, as the last week of the transfer usually does. We were super busy running around saying goodbye to people because my comp was pretty sure he'd be getting transferred. Looks like I'll be staying in the area for another with another Brazilian comp. July is going to be a very busy and successful month - I'm super excited!

We were able to meet our new mission president and his wife this week, President and Sister Cruz. Bahhhh they are awesome! I'm very excited to work with them for these last 5 months of my mission. They are very excited and I can tell that they have a lot of love for us as well as the Savior. We were challenged to study the life of Jesus Christ by reading the 4 gospels in the bible as well as 3 Nephi which are excellent testimonies of the life and ministry of the Savior. By doing this, we will able to get to know Christ better and get a better sense of His love for us and what He wants us to do. I love the video, "Because of Him" which also talks about the love Christ has for us and the miracles we can have in our lives because of Him. Check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_S3TI4bYerU

My Fourth of July was good. We said the Pledge of Allegiance and sang the national anthem in the morning and I rocked a sweet America tie all day.

We ate A LOT this week because everybody wanted to send my comp off with a full stomach. The people in this area are amazing and have a lot of love for us. I'm going to do everything I can to pay back what wonderful blessings the Lord has bestowed upon me.

Love you guys! Have a great week!
